Zolra's Corner: What Is A Celebutante?

Do you remember watching stuff on the news about this word? Remember growing up, you was never that interested in hearing about the life of our fellow celebrities. Then once you entered your young- adult years, you suddenly picked up and bought your own copy of OK! Magazine. Suddenly, the word came into your head, and you begin to ask yourself that same question.

What is a celebutante? Or better yet, how do we become one?

Zolra's Corner: My 8-9pm Show Schedule

Law Number Six: Surround Yourself With the Right People

Here is another great chapter that I read through swiftly. In this chapter, Russell talks about surrounding yourself with the right people. I agree on this 100%.

There are many people out there can help, respect, and support your creativity. I have been around friends like that. I even been around people who said this wouldn't happen to me.

So based on my experiences, I know that there are a million people that gives me support. The people who encourages you and give you a little bit of criticism means they are your real friends. Let's be honest, your friends have to be brutally honest. When your friends are that close, they must give you a little criticism.

That's the main reason for this chapter. I hope you guys like this chapter. Moving onto the seventh law tomorrow. Happy reading to you guys.

Law Number Five: Never Less Than Your Best

This is another great law that you guys should know about it. This chapter is called Never Less Than Your Best.

Now this is incredible true. There are so many people I know that tries to do so many things besides sticking to their craft. Sometimes they think just because this job makes more money, it is the career that I am meant to pursue.

I have seen and met some people that are millionaires and the only thing I hear is that "It's all about the money." That hurt me. Some of the most creative people in the world are so possessed by money, it turns them into something their not. Yes you see the money, but you don't see the passion in the job. People are coming home angry after a long day of work, and they aren't happy.

It makes me very angry that money makes someone a different person. A few of my friends have been affected by this, and that's why our friendship are no longer there.

Here is another example now that I am still writing. There was a movie created called How Stella Got Her Groove Back.

There is a scene in the movie where Stella and Winston were in bed after doing it for the first time. Stella admitted to Winston that she wanted to make furniture, and the only reason she became a stick broker is because her parents thought it was a quicker way to make money.

That really got me. Ever since then, I said "No matter how much money I receive, if I love what I am doing, I will accept whatever amount I get".

Good thing I love doing a lot of things. I really love this chapter. You guys should definitely read this. It will really capture you.

I'll give you guys the next chapter tomorrow.

Law Number Four: Stop Frontin and Start Today

I don't know where the day goes. The days are leaving like leaves from a tree. It literally wears me out. I am working on so many things, I always forget to do the others on my schedule. At this rate, I'm gonna start using my Sprint Palm phone again.

Sorry I'm late. I'm sure you guys moved on ahead in the book. Well since I am late, I am going to be writing the Russell Simmons Do You column on a daily basis.

We have moved on to the fourth law, which says Stop Frontin and Start Today. I really love this title. There is so much meaning into it. For me, it's like saying "Stop your whining and fix your problems.

Throughout the years, I have heard people saying so many things that gets on my nerves. They are complaining about their situations more than they try to fix it. Life is not perfect. This is just a dry spell.

No matter how much you feel like you are sinking to the bottom, you will never touch the bottom of the ocean unless you stop doing what you're doing. Once you hit the bottom of the ocean, you will nothing but the color black because there is no sunlight down there.

Instead of wondering when the next paycheck going to arrive, you stand up and you work until that paychecks arrive. Nobody likes a quitter.

This is my commentary on this chapter. I hope you guys enjoy this chapter. I know I did. Happy reading to you guys.

Law Number Three: Get Your Mind Right

We are now moving on to the third law in the book. I know I am pretty late. There are a couple of projects I'm involved in that makes me very busy. I can only do quick blogs. In fact, I got somewhere in a few minutes right now. So I'm going to make this a quick blog.

In this law, it is not just about doing whatever you want to do. You need to make your craft. Study it more. Keep on finding jobs related to your jobs that can help you. You can't just count on the future. You have to focus what's going on right now.

For me, I began to realize that I needed to increase. So when I wasn't getting the jobs, I was studying my craft, knowing the business as much as I could. I am still studying now. There are many things that I don't know yet, and I want to suck it all in.

That's why whenever I booked a gig, everyone is shocked that a eighteen year boy knows so much about the business. Whenever I'm at the job, I work until the job is done. For me, there is a limit to having fun at your job. I am 98% workaholic.

Based on my experiences, you will understand what this chapter means. Can't wait to post the new blog post. I promise I will give it to you tomorrow.

Law Number Two: Always Do You

Welcome back everyone. Happy reading to you. I hope you guys had a good three days reading the first chapter in this book. Now we are going to the second chapter.

Russell has said that this is his favorite chapter in this book. After reading it, I felt what he had written. I can see how this is his favorite. This chapter is actually my second to the first favorite chapter. I'll tell you my favorite at the end of this column.

In this chapter, the advice is very simple. You can catch up to it in your everyday life. No matter what we go through, always Do You. No matter what negative comments you see about your work, always Do You. No matter what problem you are facing right now, always Do You. Even when you are giving a risky choice, always Do You!

Have fun reading this chapter. I hope you guys can comment on this chapter when you're done reading it.

Zolra's Corner: Dominating Our Resources Will Lead To Other Oppourtunities

This is strictly my opinion. I don't know if anyone agrees with me or not. What I've noticed throughout my years is alot of things surrounding the LGBT community. I love the fact that we are doing everything we can to put ourselves on the screen, and getting rid of this images that the media has of us. If you've seen films like The Salon and Nora's Hair Salon, you know what gay characters I'm talking about.

Law Number One: See Your Vision and Stick With It

See Your Vision and Stick With It

Hello everyone. Happy reading to you guys. I hope you guys bought a copy of this. Like I said before, Russell Simmons book Do You! 12 Laws to Access the Power in You to Achieve Happiness and Success is my November 2009 book selection.

I have been thinking about bringing everyone back to reading. This is the second book I've chosen. I am not going to reveal the whole chapter. It's better if I describe it and let you guys read the book instead.

In this chapter, he discusses that if we have a dream, we must see it clearly and then stick with it. This is something that I have stuck with for a long time. Growing up, we begin to explore the world and figure what we want to do in life. Then once we figure out we want to do, we focus on our craft and then build up our knowledge.

I have been like that for a very long time. When I was little, there were so many things I wanted to do. I thought about being a professional soccer player. I was a fan of the game, and wanted to do everything I can to be that.

Then I gave up sports because I fell in love with the performing arts. Then I said I wanted to be a singer and actor. I still do, but one careers have clouded my head: acting, modeling, writing (books, magazines, newspapers, songs, screenplays), talk show host, event planner, blogger, and promoter. Ever since then, I have kept these careers in my mind, and I know that this is what I want to do.

Of course, there are going to be people who says "There is no way you are going to be that? Boy, you must be crazy. You might as well give up. You're not meant to be that." Don't believe in that crap. I have dealt with that for 18 years. I even have to deal with that from my own parents. That's why it's sad that we don't have a close relationship anymore.

Whatever the reason, See Your Vision and Stick With It. This is my overview of the chapter. If you want more, read this chapter. I will update you guys on chapter two in two days. And if you don't have this book, buy your own copy or check it out from the library.

Do Gays Love Romantic Comedies?

For me, I love romantic comedies. I think it's the best genre of movies in the world. I started writing screenplays, and the first script I wrote was a romantic comedy called Jen loves Stephen. I love to see the way how romance occurs in a comedic way. It's funny, and pays attention to the attraction towards the two characters at the same time.

Days ago, I went to see Along Came Polly, a romantic comedy I have been dieing to see for the last year. After watching it, tons of questions came in my head. I went out with some friends for dinner in order to keep myself entertained.

While some were talking about their relationships, I was talking about what's going on in the movies. Tons of questions were still in my head. Then it brought me up to the question. My relationships, my friend's relationships, the movies we love, the way we run our lives. This one question ended all questions.

Do gays love romantic comedies?

Click on the Along Came Polly poster and read my article on this in my Zolra's Corner column for The Future Forward.
